Beyond the walls – Day 2 of TOAF
Let’s celebrate the awesome graffiti artists and muralists who fill our urban landscape with so much jazzy, vibrant energy! Everywhere you look, artists have turned our city into an art gallery with their incredible works on the streets, electrical boxes, and parks.
Our partners at StreetARToronto (StART) have been the ones providing the vital platform for their work. Together with StART, we are presenting yet another dynamic program of widely-popular live painting, a photography exhibition and a dedicated showcase of street artists at Nathan Phillips Square. We are also collaborating to bring you a very special tour: On Wednesday, July 5 at 10:30 AM, join Chef Johl Whiteduck Ringuette, co-founder of Red Urban Nation (RUN) artists collective, to explore a series of Indigenous murals that tell stories of ‘Plants as Medicine.’
Today’s inspiration is to think beyond the walls of your living and working spaces. Consider commissioning mural artists to transform your garage doors, laneways and backyards into art masterpieces.
Tonight, tune in for the Studio Tour with Erin Pell from Saskatoon. We hope you find a work of art that speaks to you from the Curated Collections of the day: Silent Stories by Gordon Shadrach and Symbols of Safeguarding by Marie-Eve G. Castonguay.
