Brigitta Kocsis

I paint bodies in flux, where figures merge and blur with painterly surfaces, forming polymorphic shapes in constant transformation. Through layering, fragmentation, and patterns that build visual tension, I explore how the body becomes mutable and alive, reflecting both personal and systemic forces. Drawing on myth, digital culture, and art history, my paintings consider how technologies structure visibility, enforce norms, and shape who is seen or erased.
My work has been exhibited in solo and group shows across Canada and internationally, including Geneva, Venice, and New York, as well as Montreal, Vancouver, Helsinki, Szeged, Toronto, and Calgary. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to receive support from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Quebec Arts Council, and the British Columbia Arts Council, and I was honored with the Helen Frankenthaler Fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center.
