Based on Mogao Cave 397 of Sui Dynasty, this work depicts Prince Siddhārtha's departure from the royal city as he begins his quest for enlightenment. Accompanied by celestial beings and riding his beloved horse Kanthaka, the future Buddha renounces worldly life in search of truth. The dynamic composition of flying apsaras, swirling clouds, and flowing ribbons conveys the spiritual significance of this pivotal moment in Buddhist tradition.
