July 10-12, 2026 | Nathan Phillips Square

A female figure dressed in rags of brown and green and black, with a hornet's nest comb as a breast plate and a heavily veiled face holds a large gnarled walking stick. The walking stick is placed diagonally across Her body from Her right hand to where Her left foot would be under Her black skirt.

Death of an Archetype

Artist
Francie McGlynn
Description
Most of my nest pieces are about how I imagine spirituality was part of Palaeolithic life, but not always. With the rise of the far right in the last decade I fear the retreat of the Divine Feminine Archetype - She who brings equality, justice and compassion to the world. This piece shows Her leaving with Her walking stick and a veiled face we can no longer see clearly.
