I am Mahboube Ahmadi, an Afghan artist born and raised in Iran. Since 2020, I have explored various mediums, including charcoal, colored pencil, pastel, watercolor, Persian illumination (Tazhib), and Gol-o-Morgh (flower and bird motifs). For TOAF, I am showcasing my dedicated practice in metal engraving (Ghalam-zani).
To me, hard metal symbolizes life’s toughest challenges—a rigid surface that, through patience, resilience, and effort, can be transformed into breathtaking beauty. The rhythmic strike of the hammer and chisel acts as a form of meditation. The intricate precision of engraving demands such deep focus that it grounds me entirely in the present moment, bringing true mindfulness where time fades away for hours. Art is my ultimate sanctuary.
You can view my broader collection and connect with me via Instagram direct message. I look forward to sharing my journey with you.
