Heritier Bilaka is a Canadian visual artist based in Ottawa ON, Canada. He has a bachelor's in visual art from the University of Ottawa, he participated in numerous exhibitions in Canada and abroad. He has been the recipient of numerous awards and grants. The Chalmers Art project grant from the Ontario Arts Council (2026), the French Arts project from the Ontario Arts Council (2026), the awards of Excellence: Future Makers by the University of Ottawa (2025), the Congo excellence award in Art validated by the Parliament of Canada (2025), the Laura Ciruls Painting Award by the Ontario Arts Foundation (2024), two grants for research and creation from the Ottawa Arts Council and the Ontario Arts Council (2024). He was the recipient of Seed Award from the Fund for Equity and Inclusion in the Arts by the City of Ottawa (2023), the research and creation grant from the Ontario Arts Council (2022). He has been many times selected has assessor for artists project grants program by the Ontario Arts Council and the Ottawa Arts Council (2023, 2024, 2025). Heritier Bilaka has been artist-in-residence at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery in New Brunswick (2023), He signed a convention research with the Africa museum in Tervuren Belgium ( 2023-2024). Some of my artworks are in public collections: City of Ottawa ( 2026, 2025), University of Toronto ( 2024), Maron'Ages ArtGallery in Lyon, France ( 2021), and Maison de la Francophonie of Ottawa (2021). In private collections: Werner Horvath's collection in Austria (2011) and others in Toronto, Ottawa, and Ancona, Italy.
