Conserving explores the nuance of national parks and nature conservation when framing Canadian’s relationship to the land. While undoubtedly benefiting lives through prompting environmental protection and showcasing Canada’s picturesque wilderness, it does so from the colonizer’s gaze. By referencing these parks’ history with the disruption and dispossession of Indigenous land, Conservation emphasizes how central the discussion of land is, for Canada’s future moving forwards.
