July 10-12, 2026 | Nathan Phillips Square

Interlaced

Artist
Mikael Sandblom
Description
This piece combines two images of the sky and weaving them together through a structure based on water waves. At first you might just see a shifting sky, but as you look longer, it starts to separate and you realize there are actually two different skies interlaced. The works are multistable, you can see sky one, sky two, or the wave pattern itself, depending on how you focus. That wave structure acts like a kind of filter or lens, organizing what you see.
