Description

he U11•11 featured a beautifully owing hull that tapered into an unusual propeller shaft housing. Perhaps the pinnacle of steam-powered submersibles, she was converted to diesel in 1922. However, crew members were wary of the ammable liquid and preferred the familiar labor of shoveling coal so many went AWOL in foreign ports.
