Description

The PITH was an unfortunate name for a vessel, but she was of top-notch design, featuring a revolutionary winged rudder and non
traditional rounded conning tower. In engineering terms, she was distinctive and widely regarded as ahead of her time—agile, responsive, and unusually stable with control that made her feel more like a guided instrument than a traditional submarine.
Her name, however, had a way of catching on the tongue and often led to mirthful joking in the bars during shore leave,
