July 10-12, 2026 | Nathan Phillips Square

A tennis court set within dense plants and flowers, with animal-like figures playing tennis and others watching from the sides in a detailed garden setting.

Vancouver Open

Artist
Jiaoyu Wu
Description
This painting is inspired by the Vancouver Open tennis tournament, reimagined in a more playful and unexpected way. Instead of human players and spectators, animals take on these roles, bringing a different kind of energy to the scene.

The court is surrounded by plants and flowers native to Vancouver, connecting the space to the local environment. Through this work, I wanted to explore the relationship between nature and human activity, while keeping a sense of humor and imagination.
