Artist
Francesco Paonessa
Description
In my personal geography, some buildings act like anchors, and one of these places used to be the mall. Nowadays, the place feels more upscale than when I worked there as a teen. The outdoor layout looks the same, with maybe a few more curbs to stop youths from doing donuts in the parking lot at night. The old houses and buildings are still there, too, on the border of the asphalt field and traffic-barrel hedges. And in a nostalgic way, it’s still an anchor to a place that used to be home.
