The Cook pine species is over 200 million years old, older then the dinosaurs. Donald's Cook pine drawing is a rendition of the tree's primitive architecture - columnar silhouette, geometric tiered branching and prehistoric foliage - using the gestural lines and abstract construction method developed in his Abstract Characters work.
