Description

The northernmost of the pair of Chinese Lion masterworks along the east facade of the Royal Ontario Museum. The varied textures of the lion's winter wrap, the ROM's stonework, and the stubborn leaves of the oak hedge, along with season's colours, made a very suitable subject for a muted palette winter watercolour. Reference pictures for this piece were taken during regular Tuesday visits to the ROM to take advantage of indoor sketching opportunities.
