Meltwater (Heat Map II)

Meltwater (Heat Map II)

Artist
Carolyn Cheng
Description
“Meltwater” is a series of photographs that illustrate melting glaciers in remote Alaska, revealing the potential effects of climate change, if unabated. By introducing colour solarization into the series, the natural blues of meltwater pools shift to magenta and fuschia, referencing the language of heat maps, transforming the pools into figurative heat markers within the ice. “Meltwater” invites reflection on the dramatic rise in glacier melt, rising ocean levels and weather disruptions.
