Xinyun Zhou
Xinyun Zhou is a Toronto-based ceramic artist and co-founder of Toasted Vessels. She moved from Shanghai to Toronto in 2023 after working in marketing within the beauty industry. It was during this transition—adjusting to a new city and a different pace of life—that she began exploring ceramics more seriously, gradually finding a rhythm and a sense of direction through the material.
Her work is primarily handbuilt, moving between structured slab forms and more intuitive shaping. She is interested in the tension between control and softness, often combining clean geometry with quieter, more organic gestures. Subtle surface variations and restrained colour palettes play an important role in her pieces.
Through Toasted Vessels, she continues to develop objects that sit between function and presence—quiet pieces that invite closer looking and everyday use.
