Mike Kasongo
Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Mike Kasongo is a contemporary artist whose work explores identity,
memory and resilience.
Working primarily in oil painting, Kasongo combines the influence of Neoclassical and academic painting with Afrocentric perspectives and contemporary themes. Through carefully structured compositions and a pursuit of technical mastery, his practice seeks to reclaim classical representation as a living language capable of expressing contemporary realities.
His work is held in the Nova Scotia Art Bank permanent collection and has been featured by Radio-Canada in a televised artist profile. His Paintings have been exhibited across Canada, including at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair.
