Lindsey Adelman
Lindsey Claire Adelman is an emerging glass and photo artist from Barrie, Ontario.
She attended Haliburton School of Art and Design, studying Visual and Creative Arts, Photo Arts, and Glassblowing. Her desire to continue glass working brought her to Sheridan College, where they completed a Bachelor of Craft and Design in Glass in 2019. They are currently a resident artist in the glass studio at Living Arts Centre where they continue to grow their practice. Lindsey co-owns her business, Lilac Glass, with her partner.
Lindsey's glass work expresses feelings of whimsy and playfulness, all while encompassing and celebrating queer joy. Through a combination of glassblowing and hot sculpting, they create objects that harness colour, light, and shadow, touching upon the ethereal qualities of glass- its presence and absence; inviting beauty and boldness into everyday spaces. Most recently, she has been creating pieces with layers of opaque colours as a queer and maximalist rebellion against minimalist aesthetics. The vibrant patterns within this new series capture the movement of hot glass, resulting in objects that are both decorative and functional.
