Jamie Rosario
Jamie Rosario is a Toronto-based jeweller. She graduated from OCAD University’s Material Art and Design program in 2024, during which she expanded further on her craft at Harbourfront Centre’s 2023 Metal/Jewellery Summer Residency.
Her thesis titled “The Spaces in Between,” comprised of four statement necklaces, is based on the Buddhist philosophy of Indra’s Net – a metaphor for the spiritual interconnection of all living things. Jamie’s work draws upon her time spent in nature, specifically in reverence of trees/plants, interpreting sound, sight, touch, movement, and shadows as being meditative and calming.
Goldsmithing techniques such as forging and saw piercing interpret leaves, branches and shadows. Braiding and crochet in textile and metal intend to bind the body to the spiritual realm. Web, root, and vein-like structures in textile and metal statement necklaces envelop the wearer, aiming to deconstruct the sense of “self,” implying that our spirit is interwoven with the natural world.
Jamie’s recent work favours hammered textures, brushed and satin finishes, oxidized metal and beadwork.
