Emmette Lewis
Emmette is a South African and Canadian multidisciplinary artist based in Toronto, Ontario. Growing up in British Columbia, Emmette was deeply influenced by the region’s diverse environmental ecology, which she blended with the traditional stylistic practices of South African art. Emmette studied at Emily Carr University before moving to Toronto, where she completed my Honours BFA at York University in 2023. She completed her MFA at OCAD in the Interdisciplinary Arts, Media, and Design program in 2026. Her work uses familial photographs and archival documentation to explore narratives of identity, immigration and belonging.
