As a child, the world was so large. Any space can be filled with a little bit of imagination. “Suburbia in the Air” is a construction of nostalgia depicting the feeling of my childhood in the suburbs. Growing up, my neighbourhood served as an escape. A fantasy land where my sister and I could endlessly play with our creativity in our backyard. Moving to the West End of Toronto, I am reminded of home. Exploring trails, brick houses, and toys on the lawn, all make me nostalgic for a life I will never live again. Although laden with this grief, I am inspired to see the world with playfulness again.

As an adult, the world feels out of reach. It is impossible, but I want to go back to that time. I miss the Suburbia in the Air. But that is okay. I will live on with my childhood whispering to me through the window.
