RJ Onilla
R.J Onilla is a Filipino-Canadian artist based in Mississauga, Canada.
Specializing in digital photography and cinematography, R.J owns a BFA in Photography and a minor in Integrated Media from OCAD University in Toronto, Canada.
His recent documentary-inspired work "an untitled series about a mother and son" which was featured at GradEx111, centers around his life as an only child, and his relationship with the only parent that he's ever known, his mother.
R.J. looks to provide a spotlight on a family dynamic that is rarely given one, especially in an age where this type of dynamic is often shunned and disregarded, while also capturing a bond between a mother and son that is built on love, sacrifice, and quiet understanding.
"Normalcy never existed, I just lived my life thinking that it did."
