Description

This piece is inspired by land and nature. It depicts a stylized/abstracted version of a sumac tree native to Ontario, and often seen in Canadian landscape paintings. It is reflects my present environment and the land I am currently situated in. The hand-woven rug element that "frames" it, conveys my roots and cultural identity and stands as metaphor for political borders that divide countries and people.
