TOAF63 Programming is on the pulse
Plan your weekend in July!
Dear Friend of TOAF,
A bustling weekend filled with all the art and summer vibes your heart desires is waiting for you on July 12-14. We are excited to share this year’s programming. Just make sure you are in Toronto for it!
Nathan Phillips Square will pulse with a spectacular showcase of 400+ artists, engaging conversations, thoughtful installations, featured exhibitions, and the sounds of music and dance.
A theme of inquiry into our connection with urban spaces has organically emerged in this year’s programming, fitting for our gathering in a public space.
Artists’ public artworks and performances in Art Nest—curated by Rafi Ghanaghounian—reflect on the challenges and rewards of living in a cosmopolitan city. The playful and inquisitive dance piece Three Turtles in the Square by Lina Cruz from Montreal follows the journey of mischievous turtles being pulled between their love for nature and their addiction to their plastic-infested urban habitat. In 36 Questions That Lead to Loving Toronto Green Spaces by the Museum of Toronto, you will explore the many ways Torontonians find connection with the city’s green spaces.
And there is more to entertain and delight you: Small World Music has curated a selection of music acts for a groovy summer in the Square. StART Toronto has put together a great line-up of artists for Live Painting. You can also play with your family in hands-on activities with our partners at the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery.
The adorable Budding Art Buyers, for our young collectors, is getting a dose of professional advice from the Art Dealers Association of Canada for instilling serious collecting practice early. We take the next generation of art collectors seriously 😉
Art tours by professionals and feature exhibitions will give you a closer look at the artists’ work. You will also get to know members of our community through many participating Community Booths and Art Encounters.
Of course, local food vendors and our friends from Henderson Brewing Co. will provide food and drink made with love to keep you nourished throughout.
No worries if you are not in Toronto! You can still tune in to our digital programming of live Instagram Artist Chats, Studio Tours and Curated Collections to get to know our artists and support them with your attention or buy art online.
See you at the Square!

Because walking together is the shortest route to the other.
In a world that moves too fast, slowing down and rediscovering a natural space and time with artists is the most natural of movements: putting one foot in front of the other. Join Dyana for a slow, light and deep walk for all those with an itch for exploration and discussion.
Co-presented by Le Labo.
