Nicolas Derro
Nicolas Ben Derro is a visual artist, musician, and half-baked poet, born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario. The work of N.B. Derro explores his nihilistic and absurd beliefs surrounding the creative process, the folly of life, and the meaninglessness of it all. Through depictions of the surrealist realm, he challenges viewers or listeners to explore concepts of nothingness in order to find enjoyment in the simplicity of his work. Through his approach to painting, which involves little to no forethought or planning, Derro positions himself to stand on the same footing as a viewer once a finished piece becomes public; where both he and the viewer can contemplate meaning individually.
