Lisa Allshire
Lisa grew up in wild rural west of Ireland. After Art school she worked in a studio that specialized in traditional crafts. Subsequently she worked as a muralist both in Ireland and the UK. She moved to Canada in 1999 and subsequently lived for a time in several other countries including the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Australia. Returning to Canada in 2018 after twelve years overseas, she is constantly inspired by Canada’s incredible natural and cultural diversity.
Lisa’s landscape art draws both on a very free childhood spent exploring her environment, and reflects on the connectedness she feels with nature in Canada. She paints primarily these days in oil as she loves the vibrancy and depth of the medium as it enables her to capture fleeting ethereal elements of light, while conversely it translates the timeless solidity of the natural world, and exposes the millennia of growth that are revealed when contemplating the the harmony of wild places.
