Keerthana Jhutty
Verses from Tagore on missing the day a lotus bloomed, and Nehru’s 1947 Tryst with Destiny speech have inspired some of these compositions. The work is heavily influenced by poetry, classical Indian literature, the fading recollections of a childhood in India and memories of ancestors. Locales such as the deer forests of the Kalakshetra Foundation, the banyans of the Theosophical Society, and a path to a secret playground feature in the pieces.
My medium is oil paint using six pigments. Before beginning a piece, I prepare a wood panel and create thumbnail sketches to plan the value, chroma, and composition.
I currently reside in Strathmore, Alberta. The best way to reach me would be through my email, Instagram, or website as linked below.
