Katharine Kennie
Katharine Kennie is an oil painter living and working in Grey County, ON.
"My work focuses on the natural environments surrounding my rural home. I believe an art practice is about being present and aware of our surroundings and life experiences. I nurture this state of mindfulness and reflection by taking daily walks and spending as much time as possible outside. I stop at any place that catches my attention. Sometimes I make a sketch. Often I take my own photographic references. While spending this time outside looking for captivating visuals, I also try to take in the sounds and smells of each season. I hope to internalize the essence and atmosphere of these natural environments to later create paintings in the studio.”
