Ian Mackenzie
I am a self-taught multi-disciplinary artist who lives and works in Toronto. I was elected to the Ontario Society of Artists in 2003 and served as a Council member for six years.
I use my work to try to understand how to live and what it means to be human. Contemplating the mysteries of life and death; the responsibility to ourselves, each other, and the environment, are foremost concerns reflected in my art. Though these are weighty topics, I try not to be too pretentious about it.
My drawings are created using pen and ink on paper. I use anything from ballpoint pens and magic markers to architectural pens. If it has ink, I’ll use it. Pointillism is a method I employ often.
My work has been exhibited in juried and group shows in Canada and internationally.
