Born and raised in South Korea, I received my BFA from the School of Fine Arts, Hong-ik University, in Seoul. The main theme of my work, which is illustrative and playful, is the healing power of a mother’s love and sacrifice, and the healing power of art. My ceramic work, which is sculptural and painterly, echoes these motifs and themes which began with my series of paintings: 'Mother Tree' and ' Healing Flowers'
My ceramic pieces serve as an extension of the themes explored in my paintings. All of my ceramics are meticulously hand-pinched in my home studio. The surface images, echoing the motifs from my paintings, are individually hand-painted before or after second-firing.
