Ann Piché
Ann Piché is a photo-based artist living in Ottawa. Working in STEM since the 1990's, she has experienced the disconnect that often exists between science and the arts. Her practice centers on constructing visual links to build those connections, creating accessible entry points into the less familiar.
color planes, inspired by the paintings of Mark Rothko and Josef Albers, uses light and color to build geometric worlds of lines and shapes.
Created in-camera using experimental techniques, Ann’s images are staged using real and constructed landscapes with custom built sets. The photographic abstraction found in her work reflects the confusion we can feel when confronted with the unfamiliar.
Her work is held in private collections in North America. She has been published in magazines such as SHOTS and PhotoLife. Her images have been juried into group shows in Canada, the United States and Scotland.
A recent graduate of the School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa (SPAO) with recognition in lighting and integrity of vision, Ann is completing an artist residency at SPAO.
