Luanne Dominix
Luanne Dominix is a visual artist and educator based in Bay Roberts, NL. Her practice explores the intersection of material culture, natural resources, and identity. Working primarily in watercolour, she captures the quiet beauty and layered complexity of rural Newfoundland, often through imagery tied to food, land, and shared traditions. Through her work, she reflects on how food, tools, and tradition quietly shape who we are and where we come from.
Her work has been exhibited in juried exhibitions across Canada and the United States, including with the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour, the Society of Watercolor Artists, the Federation of Canadian Artists, and the Arts and Letters Awards at The Rooms. Her paintings are held in the permanent collections of The Rooms Provincial Art Bank, the City of St. John’s, and Eastern Health MHAC. In 2021, she was awarded Riddle Fence’s Visual Art Prize.
Luanne is also an active volunteer and advocate for rural entrepreneurship. She has served on a number of NGO boards. She holds degrees in architecture and business, along with a certificate in post-secondary adult education. Whether in the studio or the classroom, she believes deeply in the role artists and small business owners play in building strong, vibrant communities.
