Description

This gouache and watercolour painting is from my 2014-sketched and 2024-painted Antananarivo series. I used a bigger piece of my fancy 2012 Fabriano paper, and my Zecchi watercolours mostly. The cats were so pensive. I could see them from the balcony of the hostel where I was staying. Can you tell that there's a clothesline in the distance? The colours are my memory of the sunset. It was the sort of evening that let me imagine that I hadn’t shown up in Tana in the middle of a municipal strike.
