Pooja Kumar

I’m all about gouache and watercolour these days, and I can’t shake the feeling that places talk to me. As a former news reporter, an environmental planner, and an island studies scholar, I take the role of telling their stories seriously.

I am self-taught, save for some online classes from the Rhode Island School of Design during the COVID-19 pandemic, a two-week stint at the Florence Art Studio a decade before that, and high school dreams of being an artist and writer. I’m still working on some of those.

TOAF64 was my first art fair ever. It was wonderful to meet so many art lovers, get my work out there, and begin taking bigger steps with my practice.
