As a child we used to eat from stainless steel plates, at home or at Gurudwara.The familiarity of the sight and sounds, the rituals which now seem inbuilt, bring me ‘home’ emotionally. This ordinary steel ‘Thali’ plate - made with silver foil highlights - propped on a bright high-stature background, is inspired by the Farmers who during the COVID 2nd wave protested for their livelihoods while happily serving langar with many who didn’t have any means to eat.
