Creeping Iguana

Artist
Nathan Cole
Description
A Quill on Scratchboard portrait of a Black Ctenosaur (Iguana). The reference animal was photographed outside the Mauser EcoHouse artist residency in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. The portrait is created by hand, using a metal quill to scratch away the black-inked surface to reveal the white porcelain layer underneath. The surface is not for printmaking but is instead the final work. The surface is not marked up in any way to begin; instead, the artist picks a focal point and builds out from there.
