Ziyao Zou

Ziyao Zou (Seri) is a visual artist whose work delves into the realms of dreams and identity. Drawing inspiration from the intricacies of memory and fantasy, their paintings undergo a transformative journey, where fragments are meticulously woven together to create unexpected narratives. Through a process that balances intentional mark-making with spontaneity, they explores the interplay of abstract and figurative elements, each stroke evolving into a visual representation of the human experience.

Ziyao received a BFA in Painting and Drawing from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2023, where they were the recipient of the Presidential Merit Scholarship. Their art has been featured in various exhibitions internationally, including solo shows at Bonian Space in Beijing, China, and as part of the Takt Berlin Artist Residency in Germany.
