Description

The beauty of lily ponds is well documented by many artists. I came across these beauties while hiking and was cheered by their striking green colour contrasting with the indigo of the almost transparent water, which also managed to simultaneously reflect the sky. There was a lot of detail that I wanted to capture in this painting, and I just loved the process, particularly painting the stray fronds that are almost submerged, and the gorgeous orange and purple shades of the older leaves.
