This image began on my way to Something Old, Something New at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Image Centre. The reflecting pond—normally a skating rink—had been drained, leaving a bleak surface scattered with debris. But in one shallow puddle, the sky reflected perfectly. I paused, struck by the contrast between desolation and grace. Back in the studio, I mirrored the photo into a symmetrical composition that invites a second look.
