Talia Silva

City
Toronto
Booth
Nathan Phillips Square
Booth 334

Talia’s explorations in porcelain and stoneware are created to encourage wonder, contemplation and meaningful connection between object and person. Pensive and often tactile, the objects playfully inquire our place in the natural world and reflect on the temporal and cyclical nature of being.
Talia studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design and is currently living and working in Toronto, Ontario.
-------------------------------------------------------
I explore the intricacies of hidden worlds, examining the preciousness of time and our interconnectedness with the natural world and each other. I am interested in quiet, curved forms, which provide me focus for the time intensive and meditative process of carving. The incising is intended to be accentuated by the interplay of light and shadow.
My work draws from intricate patterns in nature ranging from waterways, root structures, tendrils, leaf venation, fossils and earth formations. My intention is to conjure a visual representation of the tangible and the intangible connecting.
With my ceramics, I hope to inspire moments of stillness and contemplation, to invite presence of mind, and to offer a reprieve from the bustle of our times.
