Santanu Dutta
Born in India and now residing in Canada, Santanu is a distinguished artist whose work intricately blends the meditative essence of Eastern art with Western creative techniques. Trained at the prestigious Kala Bhavan at Visva-Bharati University in Santiniketan and holding a Master’s in Painting from Jiwaji University, Santanu developed a unique style using ink to merge recognizable forms with abstract elements. Inspired by childhood memories of nature and the changing seasons, particularly the monsoon rains, he creates artworks that evoke the mysterious and evolving patterns observed over time. The weathered spots created by the soaking, absorbing, and drying of monsoon waters on walls formed intricate patterns, figures, and colors, revealing mysterious shapes that seemed to unfold only to him. Santanu strives to capture this sense of wonder and discovery in his paintings, inviting viewers to explore their own interpretations.
