Sandy Middleton is a photo-encaustic paper artist from St. Catharines. I think of the encaustic process as a metaphor for lived experience — how we are shaped not by single moments but by the slow accumulation of everything that came before. The image, while present, is deliberately deconstructed. I am less interested in what is seen than in what is felt — the subliminal pull, the half-recognition, the quiet resonance between the work and the person standing before it. She works with encaustic medium, photography and Japanese papers. Some of her recent accomplishments; Sandy's work has been recently acquired by the Toronto Dominion Bank Collection 2026, Simons of Canada 2025, The Ontario Teachers Pension Plan 2024 and numerous public & private collections across Canada and into the US. At TOAF 2024 she won the Petroff Award, and in 2023 she won Best in Paper. This will be Sandy's 12th year participating in the fair.
