Rob Croxford
Rob is a full-time artist based in Toronto, where he lives with his adoring husband/part-time art schlepper. Since the early 2000’s, he has devoted himself fully to his fine art practice, developing a deeply authentic signature style. His work draws inspiration from vintage advertising, retro signage, classic cinema, and camp culture — layering visual punchlines with emotional undertones. Whether he’s referencing B-movie quotes, historical landmarks, or television theme song deep cuts, Rob’s paintings are designed to make viewers laugh, think, and occasionally do a double-take.
He has presented 12 full collections of artwork in over 200 juried and solo exhibitions, including appearances at the Toronto International Art Fair, LA Art Show, The Artist Project, TOAF, and the One of a Kind Show. His work is held in the City of Toronto’s permanent collection, and he created the art for the 100th anniversary of the TTC. In 2026, he will have completed his TWO THOUSANDTH painting. Yup. Let that sink in! 2000!
Rob’s paintings live in hundreds of private collections across North America, including those of famous musicians, authors, actors, and more than a few city mayors. His collaborations include projects with The Tragically Hip, The Doors, and James Brown! He is currently represented in 12 galleries across North America! (BOO YA - but in a humble way!)
In a complicated and often scary world, Rob’s work is intentionally upbeat — a collision of nostalgia, humour, typography, and the occasional cheeky political nudge. Equal parts entertainer and unapologetic smarty-pants, he creates art that invites laughter first and reflection second.
Global art domination? Obviously. But mostly, he’s here to make you smile — because escapism isn’t indulgent. It’s survival!
