Nurdan Erol

Nurdan Erol was born in 1993 in Turkey. Her professional art education began at age 13, eventually leading to her completion of the degree program with a major in painting, at Mimar Sinan Art University in Turkey. Since that time she has participated in many group exhibitions and won many awards. In 2021 Nurdan immigrated to Canada where she now pursues a career as a working artist.

Nurdan Erol: "In my recent works, I have become more engaged with the pictorial field.
My work is a response to every period of art history actively mixing with my own intense and immediate take on life as I now experience it.

All landscapes and all people excite me as an artist. My figurative works, particularly the portraits, are like landscapes of the mind and spirit of another person. An aspect of this approach starts with the documenting of the subject, both body and emotion, and it always ends simply with my own very personal dialogue with paint on canvas. The completed work represents the intersection of my life with the life of another person in a specific place and for a single moment in time."
