About Me

Hello and welcome to my work! I'm Natalie, and I make jewellery :)

I specialize in delicate miniature work using the lost wax method. All of my work is carved by hand, then cast in precious metal. I do not do the metal casting myself, but otherwise take care of the design, handcarving, stone-setting, and metal finishing parts of the fine jewellery process.

My favourite thing about jewellery is the way it creates a personal feeling of delight. Metal and stone are some of the longest-lasting materials around, so I do my best to create work that will continue to give delight in the future — passed onward between the dearest of family, or sweetest of friends ❤️

About the Collection

In this collection, I look for harmony in nature, beauty in complexity, and a contrast between fragility and force.

Harmony in Nature
As the daughter of immigrants, I was raised away from my culture of origin. In adulthood, I became interested in learning to see the world, especially the natural world, as my ancestors might have. My current work references plants, animals, and landscapes native to East Asia, as well as their representation in traditional Asian arts.

Beauty in Complexity
As a neurodivergent person, I experience things in a way that feels overwhelming in detail. During the handcarving process, I try to concentrate that complexity into the details of my work.

Fragility and Force
After leaving a fast-paced career in the tech industry, I came to resist working under ideals of speed, force, or magnitude. Instead, I am interested in the uniquely fragile effect which emerges from slow, patient, and attentive handling. You see this effect often in crafts associated with women's domestic work — the making of embroidery, lace, and other textiles come to mind. I try to create work that highlights the special qualities of such light-touch, patience-based techniques.
