Michele Macdonald
Born and raised in Toronto, I began my arts training with a High School Vocational Arts Program and then on to 5 years at OCAD. I expanded my creative expression through exploring many different materials and techniques. I have enjoyed a professional career as an artist and as a potter for the past 11 years. The interplay of form, texture, colour and function in nature for me is an invitation to to explore the endless reimagining of the interplay. This is an inspiration to create a memory or familiar in the natural world.
My ceramic work is wheel thrown and my glazes and slips are developed and made in my home studio. The surface images are created with hand painting stained slips with a paper resists, then a matte glaze often with a wax resist and a glossy glaze on the interior. Fired in oxidation.
