Marianne is an award-winning and self-taught Korean-Canadian artist.  Radiating warmth and light, her art is intended to evoke a sense of magic and nostalgia. Drawing inspiration from Canadian and world landscapes combined with her imagination, she applies thin layers of acrylic paint to create luminous surfaces with a dreamlike quality. She's especially drawn to how nature mirrors us. How themes of identity, belonging and resilience are shaped through interconnectedness, highlighting the importance of community as a means for sustainability.

The Sunset Dream series was developed over the past year through an intuitive and process-led approach, rather than representing a specific area. While works are not tied to a singular location, they are informed by her experience of Canadian and Ontario landscapes, alongside an imagined sense of place. She's drawn to sunsets because of how quickly they pass, as well as, how they hold intensity and softness at the same time, then disappear.
She used silver acrylic spray paint to form a reflective ground that shifts with light and movement, bringing a sense of fluidity and quiet energy to the surface. This use of silver and spray paint expands the material language of her work and over this, she applied washes of pink to create a warm, dreamlike sky, capturing how it feels to witness a sunset. The interplay between reflective silver and soft pink creates a dialogue between surface and emotion.

In 2025, Marianne was the recipient of the Gladstone House Award at the 64th Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, and her artwork was selected for the Art with Heart Casey House silent auction.
