Lisa Martini-Dunk
Lisa is a formally trained fine artist from Guelph/Peterborough. She creates her visions using scratchboard and printmaking techniques. In 2019, Lisa won a poster contest for National Purebred Dog Day.
Her art possesses a playful quality, telling vibrant stories that convey the impression of ingenuity, where the unimaginable and unreasonable can become sensible and absolute.
Scratchboard is a type of board or paper that has a layer of white clay underneath a layer of black Indian ink. The surface is scratched with fine lines to reveal the white underneath. After completing the image, colour can be added. Scratchboard has a long history, dating back to the 1800s, when it was primarily used for illustrations in magazines, books, and newspapers, effectively replacing wood engraving.
