Kathryn Kirkpatrick
Kathryn is an artist with formal educational background in ballet, visual art (BA, visual art), teaching (primary/junior, senior art) and law (LLB). She enjoys exploring art as a form of communication of complex ideas through minimalist and realistic images using simple lines and largely monochromatic palette. Kathryn has shown her work in numerous exhibits in Canada and NYC. Kathryn uses layers of acrylic paint and washes to capture limitless sky and cloud formations, and she often juxtaposes these ethereal images with somber, detailed human-like trees reaching skyward. This series explores how we often find ourselves looking upward to escape, to find comfort, meaning, a sense of purpose and of self. Kathryn also enjoys creating commission works.
