Jazlin Nicholas studies Studio Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo. She is based in Belleville and Waterloo, Ontario. Jazlin is primarily an acrylic painter, using her own photographs as references becuase she is inspired by the world around her. Recently, Jazlin has been exploring the beauty and diversity of water which intrigues her visually and conceptually. Water allows Jazlin to play with semi-abstraction and it diversifies the way that people view and interpret the work. Light and colour are the basis of the abstract qualities in Jazlin's precise graphic style. Using her own 'paint-by-number' style she often creates ambiguous figures, finishing with a glossy varnish.
